Google Maps! Here I am again! Every week I can’t wait to write you a new weblog. This week I will talk about Google Maps.
I have to travel a lot on a weekly basis. Every time I worry that I will be lost in the mysterious streets of an unknown city. A few days ago I had also something to worry about. As a senior team leader I have to drive a “huge vehicle” regularly to transport promotional materials for work purposes. Don’t get me wrong, I love to ride cars! But.. I hate parking them. So last Tuesday I was able to prepare myself online. I went to Google Maps website to figure out where I could park my Bus nearby the Holland Casino in Breda. On the drawn maps I couldn’t visualize me parking somewhere. Therefore, I used the street view tool to explore the surroundings of the Casino. Where is there enough space to park a very big car? I clicked on the orange icon (looks like a fake human) and dragged a street nearby the Casino. Wow! I seemed like I was standing in the middle of the street for real! Street view allows you to rotate 360 degrees and to zoom in. By using the arrows on my keyboard I was able to fly through the streets. What an invention! Really! In a few minutes I saw a good location for parking my car: the Chasseveld. It was a perfect spot, because as I moved through the street online, I saw some trucks parked there. Just perfect!
Google Maps- Street View can also be used for other purposes. For example, if someone is looking for a house in Utrecht, he or she will be able to visit neighborhoods online. Where are the supermarkets and other located? Is it possible for children to play in lovely green parks close to their homes? You don’t have to spend a euro to find out.
