Find the Ziggo chair in Street View!

HELLO!

Ziggo has started a campaign with the help of Google Streetview. They have created a game called ‘Spot de stoel’. The purpose of the game is to find the Ziggo talkin chair (3D object). You might recognize the talking chairs from previous Ziggo commercials. The games starts with a filmtrailer. After one minute the trailer stops in a particular street. Google Streetview will show that same street. In the street they have hidden the Ziggo chair somewhere. You have to be fast to get the highest score. I tried this game which can be played on social network hyves. I think it is a nice idea, but I didn’t succeed in the first place in finding the chair. Above all, who aspects a talking chair on the sunny streets in Los Angelos. Once I had find the chair it was not easy to click on it. Many seconds went by, before the software became aware that I (the bored user) was finished. Off course, no high score for me. You should try this game too! Maybe my game skills let me down or you perform better anyways. You can play the game on http://www.hyves.nl/actie/spotdestoel. Let me know if you liked the game are not!
The meaning of the campaign is to promote the film offer of Ziggo. You can order movies from your lazy chair, without going to “video library”. That is wonderfull. Even though I know I would be scared sitting in those talking chairs. Maybe I will be to heave to carry and the chair will bite me ear off or give me a head shot! You never know... :O

It is clever to set up an original campaign with the help of Google Streetview. An interactive game will make the customer aware of the brand Ziggo and that is a part of Ziggo’s aim. Also the fact they chose to launch the game on hyves is smart thing to do as they reach many people! The game can be installed as a gadget on everyones profile. Furthermore, you can become friend with the two chairs who are well known from previous Ziggo commercials. They have each their own account on hyves. Barbara van der Stoel is the name of the female version of the chair and has to attract the female customers as Ted van der stoel is the male version. Obviously, he has to attract the males.Barbara van der Stoel is married with Ted van der stoel (duh they both have the same surnames. Read her profile underneath.. Very funny!

Welcome to my new weblog!

This time I want to talk about peoples addition to social media!

Every day we are online! New possibilities on the internet to socialize chain us to our laptops, pc’s. Especially, with the brand new telephones with really fast internet connection. Read some facts by clicking on this image:

I can say I am not addicted to social media. Yes I have hyves! Yes I have facebook (since I want to keep in touch with foreign people who I met on my travels)! Yes I have Twitter! Yes I have this blog! But I think Im just too lazy or too busy to update every single account. It would be different if I had a modern telephone with all those options! I would go online, during lectures, so that teachers would't be angree at me for disturbing their class. Yes I talk a lot, and it would be less noisy if I talk online by typing messages.

Here is a very funny list to tell if you use social media to much! I have found this list on the internet.

You may be addicted to social media if:

  1. You are going to spend the Christmas holiday with @grandma and @grandpa.
  2. You log in to Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn (or another form of social media) before you eat breakfast or get dressed each morning.
  3. When a friend says something clever, you respond by saying “I’ll retweet that.”
  4. You plan your activities according to how tweetable they are.
  5. No Internet connection is a serious problem since you might miss someone’s status update.
  6. Whenever you finish watching a good movie or television show you feel the urge to give it a thumbs up (just like you would on StumbleUpon or Digg).
  7. You speak in bursts of 140 characters, or less.
  8. Instead of actually laughing when your friend says something funny, you say “ROFL.”
  9. You refer to door-to-door sales people as “spammers.”
  10. When you meet someone new who is interesting, you ask if you can “connect to their network.”
  11. You put your Ninja name (from Facebook quizzes) on your business card instead of your actual name.
  12. You have been wondering how you can “block” some of life’s everyday problems like heavy traffic, high prices, and yard work.
  13. When you have a problem, the first people you turn to for advice are the ones on Facebook or Twitter.
  14. You ask the pizza delivery person if they will deliver directly to your computer desk.
  15. You’re not getting enough sleep, but it’s not because you’re working too hard. It’s because you’re staying up late to keep your status up to date and to download pictures.
  16. You don’t take a vacation because you don’t want to miss a tweet.
  17. You trust the advice of your followers more than you trust the advice of your spouse or partner.
  18. You become anxious if someone you know refuses to friend you on Facebook or follow you on Twitter.
  19. You can’t remember the last time you spent an entire day without social media.
  20. You dream about social media comments and posts at night.

Please fill in my poll and let me know if you are addicted!

Write to you next week!

My sister seen on TV

Hi there!

This weekend my sister (Hiphoplady) was on the Dutch television again! I know some of you guys missed the television show, therefore, I have made a small video with the highlights.

Watch and enjoy!

Hiphoplady on Move Like MJ SB6 from elianne rombout on Vimeo.

Yes, I am very proud of her..even though she didn’t make it to the live shows. In my opinion she has performed better than some dancers who did made it. The television show hasn’t got a lot a viewers, unfortunately. Many call it a flop show! As a result, advertisers do not have to pay large amounts of money for their commercials. Lucky them! The television channel booked Timor (a famous dancer of Micheal Jackson) to attract more viewers. Nevertheless, it had no effect.. Newspaper De Telegraaf published an article about the dropping viewing rates. Last week only 373.000 people watched the show and last saturday it was even less (359.000 viewers). Other television shows like 'Ik hou van Holland' and 'Echt waar?!' have over 2 million viewers.

Please fill in the poll and give your opinion about the television show! Do you like it? Will you continue watching the show?

My sister also wrote a weblog with some background information and her experiences ;) on http://hiphoplady.hyves.nl/

Until next week!

Greetings!

After death there is WebWill..

Hello! Finally a new weblog again! This week I have an interesting subject to talk about the webwill! We spend a huge amount of our lives on-line. We socialize in online networks, we search for information and we use different types of online services to fulfill our needs. Everybody knows that we will die one day. It can happen tomorrow, next week or maybe you will become very old! What happens to all the data like photos, weblogs and social network accounts after we are gone? A Swedish student (Lisa Granberg) thought about this question and came up with an answer. She created the WebWill.

" WebWill allows users to prepare messages on Twitter, Facebook and Myspace which will be automatically updated if they come to an untimely end. After the system is informed of your mortal demise (from a pre-registered contact) it then updates your services which can include a blog post or spooky email to a list of friends."

Additional explanation on video

In short, My Webwill is a secure online service that allows you to make decisions about your Internet accounts after your death. It sounds a little bit scary, but I think it is also a smart idea! Would you consider signing up for this new service?

Online marketing: me and my sister in the spotlights

Hello there!

Im really sorry it took so long to write a new blog. I have been really busy the last few weeks. Today I want to talk about me starring in online advertising movie for Lipton and my sister who was on television last saturday.

Elianne the online MOVIESTAR

I work for a marketing company which is very innovative and focuses on promotional activities and organizing events to boost brands. A few weeks ago I had to work for Lipton Tea on the big event Huishoudbeurs Amsterdam RAI and I also visited several neighborhoods lately to promote the tea. A camera guy was hired by Boost to film me during my activities. His assignment was to create a movie about the company’s creative and innovative way of promoting products and brands. So they thought, yes let’s film Elianne, because she is always acting crazy.
Off course the movie is not about me, in fact you only see me a few seconds, but I think you will have a great laugh. The movie has been put online on the renewed website off the organization. Their aim is to attract new brands and customers by putting new movies online. In that way they can show publicly what the company stands for and what they are capable of. The final version of the Lipton Tea movie is very professionally executed. Pay attention and watch me.. One more thing at the end of the movie you will see that my yaw is huge and swollen! I have a good reason for that! No I didn’t eat to much (well maybe?) but my wisdom-tooth was amputated that week. No make-up was able to conceal it!

Click on this link
http://vimeo.com/10064923 to see the movie. And afterwards read the other halve of my blog ;)

So did you like it? Fine!

My sister the television star!

Yes! Few weeks ago I mentioned my sister’s participation in the television show Move Like Micheal Jackson on SBS 6. Last Saturday she was on tv. If you missed it you can click on the following link:
http://www.sbs6.nl/web/show/id=866378/langid=43/page=2

She is very good isn’t she? I have set up a little poll. Please give your opinion about my sisters dance moves! I am very curious!
In general, I really like the fact that you can watch television shows and series online (like rtlgemist.nl and on the website of sbs6). For companies it is also a perfect way to advertise their brand in 15 seconds. Unlike the normal television the visitors/viewers of the website are not able to switch to another channel. Therefore, they will be exposed to the commercial and that is exactly what the advertiser wants. Can you recall the brand of the commercial before watching the audition of my sister?

Thank you for reading my blog. Don't forget to fill in my poll on the right ;)
Until next time!

Greetings Elianne

Google Maps and Parking cars :)

Google Maps!
Here I am again! Every week I can’t wait to write you a new weblog. This week I will talk about Google Maps.
I have to travel a lot on a weekly basis. Every time I worry that I will be lost in the mysterious streets of an unknown city. A few days ago I had also something to worry about. As a senior team leader I have to drive a “huge vehicle” regularly to transport promotional materials for work purposes. Don’t get me wrong, I love to ride cars! But.. I hate parking them. So last Tuesday I was able to prepare myself online. I went to Google Maps website to figure out where I could park my Bus nearby the Holland Casino in Breda. On the drawn maps I couldn’t visualize me parking somewhere. Therefore, I used the street view tool to explore the surroundings of the Casino. Where is there enough space to park a very big car? I clicked on the orange icon (looks like a fake human) and dragged a street nearby the Casino. Wow! I seemed like I was standing in the middle of the street for real! Street view allows you to rotate 360 degrees and to zoom in. By using the arrows on my keyboard I was able to fly through the streets. What an invention! Really! In a few minutes I saw a good location for parking my car: the Chasseveld. It was a perfect spot, because as I moved through the street online, I saw some trucks parked there. Just perfect!

Google Maps- Street View can also be used for other purposes. For example, if someone is looking for a house in Utrecht, he or she will be able to visit neighborhoods online. Where are the supermarkets and other located? Is it possible for children to play in lovely green parks close to their homes? You don’t have to spend a euro to find out.
Here is a link to a YouTube movie, for additional explanation of Google Maps and Street View
